VETERINARIAN (10–15 hours/week)

We've never wanted to be the busiest clinic in Brisbane. We've wanted to be one of the best places to practise good medicine.

For us, that means building a clinic where good medicine and a good working day go hand in hand.

Every clinic says they care about their team. We think the better question is whether the way the clinic runs proves it.

We've deliberately built a clinic where vets, nurses and receptionists work together in a way that allows everyone to do their best work. Not because it sounds nice, but because we've found that's how you consistently deliver the best care for patients, clients and each other.

We're looking for an experienced veterinarian to join us for around 10 to 15 hours a week. This is a genuine long term part time position for someone who enjoys practising good medicine, values working with an experienced team, and isn't looking for a stepping stone to full time hours or a leadership role.

What working here looks like

We don't measure success by how many appointments we can squeeze into a day.

We'd rather have a clinic that hums.

That means protecting appointments for urgent cases instead of constantly overbooking. It means scheduling thoughtfully so the day flows well. It means making sure people leave on time more often than not, because tomorrow matters just as much as today.

Our nurses work at the top of their skill set. They collect samples, perform pre consult observations, reinforce treatment plans, demonstrate medications, discuss estimates and organise follow up care. Our reception team keeps the day moving so our vets can focus on what they do best: practising medicine and building trusted relationships with clients.

We've also developed our clinical standards together. They're not rigid rules. They're agreed approaches that help us provide consistent care while still respecting each vet's clinical judgement.

The kind of vet who'll thrive here

You're confident in your clinical decision making and comfortable asking for another opinion when it's useful.

You enjoy working as part of a team, have a sense of humour, and appreciate that a great clinic depends on people enjoying working together as much as it does on good medicine.

You're happy working within agreed standards because you see consistency as a strength, not a limitation.

Most of all, you enjoy the satisfaction of a clinic that's humming. Consults run on time, nurses are empowered to do what they do best, clients receive clear, confident recommendations that put their pet's health first, and the whole team finishes the day feeling productive rather than exhausted.

Here's what that looks like on a normal Monday

A good example happened just this week.

We started Monday with a full appointment book and three appointments deliberately protected for urgent cases. Before 8.30am we'd already had a walk in emergency and the phones were running hot.

Reception and nursing worked together to prioritise the pets that genuinely needed to be seen. The schedule was adjusted in the background, confirmations checked, and a waiting list organised. Nurses collected samples, performed pre consult observations and supported worried owners. Reception kept clients informed and everything moving. Our vet simply moved from one consult to the next, focusing on clinical decisions instead of trying to juggle everything else.

By lunchtime we'd seen a waiting room full of sick pets.

It was busy.

It never felt chaotic.

That wasn't because everyone was running harder.

It was because everyone knew their role, trusted each other and had systems that supported them.

That's the clinic we've intentionally built.

A few honest realities

This role won't suit everyone.

If you're looking for referral level emergency work, a pathway into leadership, or a position that's likely to become full time in the next few months, we're probably not the right clinic for you.

Our caseload reflects what you'd expect from a busy community practice. You'll see plenty of ears, skin, dentistry, preventative health and medical cases. We enjoy doing them well, and we're looking for someone who does too.

There's no after hours, and we schedule with the intention of everyone getting home on time. If you'd like to consult on Saturday mornings, there's the opportunity to pick up between one and four Saturdays each month, but it's entirely optional.

From time to time we all help cover a colleague who's on leave or unexpectedly unwell. That's simply part of being a team.

One practical point: please think realistically about the commute. We've had great people discover that a long drive wasn't sustainable after all. We'd much rather have that conversation upfront than lose someone we'd otherwise have loved to keep.

More than just work

Every week we deliberately reduce our surgery load, close the clinic for an hour, and sit down together.

Part of that time is for discussing cases, improving the way we work and sharing ideas.

The other part is simply enjoying lunch together.

It's become one of the things our team values most, and it's another example of how we've built this clinic intentionally rather than hoping a good culture happens by itself.

Remuneration

We're not looking for the cheapest vet. We're looking for the right one. Remuneration will reflect your experience, the quality of medicine you practise, and the contribution you make to the team.

Let's keep it simple

If this sounds like the sort of clinic you've been hoping to find, we'd love to hear from you.

Get in touch for a chat. We'd love to hear what you're looking for, and if you can send through your CV when you reach out, it'll give us a good starting point for the conversation.
